Annie and Charles’ Wedding
Thursday, June 8th, 2017
In February 2016 we had the pleasure of meeting Annie and her family when she came into The Bridal Collection to find her gown. Annie described the style of her wedding to us and along with Suzanne Neville who was here for our meet the designer day we were able to lead Annie to the gorgeous ‘Overture’ dress which she opted to wear with a bespoke lace jacket. We were over the moon when Annie sent us the images from her amazing day! We love the styling and I think you can all agree with us that she looks absolutely stunning!

We wanted to choose somewhere with character. We looked at several venues in Leeds and Harrogate but nowhere compared to the Old Swan and its grand architecture. The stunning Wedgwood Room, which was used for our Ceremony had the most beautiful glass ceiling, which we knew would complement the theme that we had in mind. The Old Swan also catered for all of our 200 guests.
Due to us getting married in March, we based our theme on ‘Spring’. We focused predominantly on the Blossom Tree and this ran throughout. We wanted a traditional wedding executed in a comfortable and enjoyable way. Elegant but fun was definitely the message of the whole day and we wanted this to be reflected to our guests.
I used Pinterest and Instagram but mainly got all my inspiration from Red Floral’s Instagram page.
I wanted to create a very clean, yet magical setting and this was created by the use of lots of candles and clean white flowers (mainly blossom, roses and orchids.)
Overture by Suzanne Neville. I was extremely fortunate to experience the ‘Designer Day’ at the Bridal Collection in Harrogate. I tried on several dresses for Suzanne and with her help eventually chose the Overture Dress – which was everything and more than I could have ever envisaged wearing on my Wedding Day. The look i wanted to achieve was extremely simple, classic with a little touch glam but most important was that I felt comfortable to party the night away.
I am fairly decisive, but thought I would wear a white tight fitting dress with lots of lace. I have to say I was extremely surprised when my choice of dress was very traditional and ivory. For those who are unsure, make sure you try on every single style including ones that you would never ever look at and ones that you think may or may not suit you. A wedding dress is very different to a little black dress! It sounds extremely crazy but I also found pretending to dance in my dress helpful, being one who is always on the dance floor it was important to know I’d be able to dance all night long without having to fear that it might fall down!!
The Bridal Collection was an absolute pleasure. I would recommend your shop to any bride and since have! All the staff are extremely attentive. I felt very at home in the shop and didn’t want to leave after my final fitting. I will never forget taking my brother and mummy to finalise my dress choice. We were all drinking champagne at 9am in the morning and it is safe to say we all walked out in a wobbly line!
My dress fitted perfectly and I didn’t once feel uncomfortable or uneasy. On my last fitting I made a couple of changes (this was 5 days before my big day) and the changes were made without any apprehension. Arnya and Lucy both made me feel so at ease and were incredible throughout the process.
I will never ever forget all my friends and family standing on their chairs, surrounding us on the dance floor whilst Charles and I were in the middle dancing and singing to Marry You by Bruno Mars.
It is extremely hard to describe the feeling of when your husband to be walks into a room casting his eyes on you for the first time, but it is certainly a feeling I will never forget. The raw emotion from all our family and friends was very clear and it was so special not only to watch but to also feel.
We are both very much “party” people and enjoy having a drink and a laugh with our friends. This was definitely created and there was not one moment we weren’t on the dance floor. We even managed to miss the main course as we were too busy enjoying ourselves.
Atmosphere is definitely key and the most important thing to us when planning our wedding was to make sure every single person felt like they were part of our big day.
